Location:
hybrid in Madison, WI (you’d work remotely, and occasionally meet up with our cofounder Benedict in Madison)
Compensation: $30 per hour
🫵Why this role?
You want real-world experience on real features for real customers
No busy work here - you'll own small features and changes front-to-back that actually ship to customers.
You want to learn how to work side-by-side with LLMs as they change software development
Working with Cursor and other AI tools will be a core part of how you learn and build product at Arrows.
You want to learn from a small, experienced team
You’ll get to see exactly how a growing startup works.
🏹 Arrows the productArrows creates shared pages for companies to collaborate with their customers, from the sales process through onboarding. Arrows replaces lengthy follow-up emails after sales calls, and unwieldy shared docs used for onboarding.
If a company sells a product that requires several steps to get up and running, Arrows helps manage that process through both sales and onboarding.
🛠️ The product teamToday Arrows the product is built by a team of 5 people: our CTO, 2 product engineers, one engineering intern, and our cofounder Benedict.
Product is built in 5 week cycles, with a 1 week cooldown between cycles. As an intern, you'll work within these cycles and focus on smaller features that we don’t currently have the resources to tackle, but that our customers will love.
Our engineering philosophy can be summed up as “Boring Rails”—tried and true technologies utilized with minimal fuss. Read our CTO Matt’s blog to see what we mean.
We do our best to use the latest versions of each.
We try to stay on the Rails “happy path” as much as possible, and limit pulling in new dependencies unless there’s a strong business case for them. We prize the stability, predictability, and legibility that comes with doing things the simplest way.
Infra/Ops:
Heroku, Linear, Sentry, Git Hub Actions, Stripe
We expect interns to learn from and adapt to our established patterns and stack.
It’s okay if you haven’t worked with this tech stack before, and we don’t expect you to be well-versed in it before starting. We’ve found it to be really conducive to building valuable features really quickly. Hopefully once you get comfortable with it you’ll fall in love with it too!
đź‘‹ Engineering culture at ArrowsWe believe LLMs are deeply important for software products, and you'll get exposure to how we're integrating them to help customers.
We pair on calls when tackling uncertainty. You should be excited to work through problems together rather than struggling alone.
We care about the customer experience. Since Arrows is often the front door of our customers' customer experience, quality matters.
🔎 Ideally you are...A college sophomore, junior, or senior
Are self-motivated and capable of pushing projects forward through uncertainty
Have previous experience with building software outside of class, either as side projects or previous internships
Are excited about working on B2B SaaS, are interested in learning as much as possible and the possibility of a full-time role with Arrows after college
