Installation Technician, Field/Service Technician
Wisconsin Audio Video is an established commercial Audio/Visual Integrator specializing in the design and installation of state-of-the-art integrated AV systems for business. With offices in Madison, Green Bay, Eau Claire, Wausau, and Rockford, IL, we continue to grow and are seeking an experienced Lead Audiovisual Technician to join our team in a permanent, full-time position.
Position OverviewThe Lead Audiovisual Technician is a senior field position responsible for leading AV installation projects, mentoring technicians, and serving as the primary on-site technical authority. This role requires strong hands-on technical skills combined with leadership, organization, and customer-facing professionalism.
The Lead Technician works closely with Project Management, Engineering, and Service teams to ensure projects are installed efficiently, correctly, and to company standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and execute commercial AV installations from start to finish
- Serve as the on-site technical lead and primary point of contact during installations
- Coordinate daily job-site activities and task assignments for technicians and subcontractors
- Interpret project documentation, drawings, and scopes of work
- Ensure installations meet design intent, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Perform advanced installation, termination, and testing of AV systems and infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during installation and commissioning
- Assist with system configuration, basic programming, and commissioning as required
- Train, mentor, and support junior technicians
- Maintain clean, professional job sites and ensure proper documentation and labeling
- Communicate clearly with customers, project managers, and internal teams
- Identify potential scope changes or field conditions and communicate proactively
Experience with the following systems is preferred (training provided where appropriate):
- Commercial Installed Audio Systems
- Video Distribution Systems
- AV Control Systems (Crestron, QSC, Extron, Biamp)
- Network Connectivity and Basic IT Integration
- CCTV and Live Stream Camera Systems
- House of Worship AV Systems
- Drive-Thru Intercom and Timer Systems
- Strong background in commercial AV installation and service
- Low-voltage cabling and construction site experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized
- Professional demeanor and clean work appearance
- Team-oriented leader with a positive attitude
- Willingness to assist wherever needed to ensure project success
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn new technologies
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift and move AV equipment
- Experience leading or mentoring technicians is strongly preferred
- AVIXA Certification is a plus, but not required

Experience (Preferred):
Commercial Low Voltage / Construction Installation – 3 years (not required)
