Diesel Mechanic Job Description

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on a fleet of excavating and lawn care equipment. This role involves working with a variety of machinery including Caterpillar models, Volvo Haul Trucks, Wolfpac Rollers, dump trucks, backhoes, and work trucks.

• Perform preventative maintenance on a fleet of equipment.
• Repair and troubleshoot diesel engines and heavy equipment.
• Conduct mechanical maintenance, including work on hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, transmissions, and engines.
• Utilize welding skills for equipment repairs.
• Maintain and manage fleet maintenance schedules.

• 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Proficient in diesel engine maintenance and repair.
• Ability to perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Experience with fleet maintenance and repair.
• Valid driver's license.

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance.

Work in a shop environment and be prepared to operate in all types of weather conditions, including hot, cold, and rainy days. The company culture is family-oriented with a small team of 30+ employees. The dress code requires steel toe boots and pants, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, and high visibility shirts or vests are provided.

Standard working hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with summer hours from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, WI.

The pay range for this position is $62,400.00 - $87,360.00/yr.

Company pays 50% Paid time off - eligible after 1 year and in good standing with company Paid Holidays - if they fall Monday - Friday (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day) 401K Match - 100% match at 3%, 50% match of next 2% Offer Medical, Dental, Vision, Short-term and Long-term disability, Life Insurance

This is a fully onsite position in Madison, WI.
