Job SummaryThis position performs installation, start‑up/commissioning, repair, replacement, and preventative maintenance work on commercial HVAC equipment, components, and controls. The role is customer‑facing and provides vital solutions to customers, and also handles purchasing, inventory, asset tracking, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Answer all requests in a timely, professional, and courteous manner while listening and responding to the needs/requests of the caller.
- Identify and understand sequence of operations for systems, components, and controls.
- Read and understand mechanical drawings and equipment submittals.
- Read and understand wiring diagrams and installation/operation manuals.
- Navigate to, locate, and find equipment.
- Perform installation, start‑up, and commissioning tasks.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
- Perform diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks.
- Trace electrical wiring, piping, and controls.
- Determine and repair operational problems.
- Replace systems, components, and controls.
- Obtain vendor pricing for equipment, parts, and materials, etc.
- Order and track equipment, parts, and materials as needed for execution of work.
- Maintain assigned vehicle, service tools/equipment, parts/materials inventory.
- Maintain work order, timecard, and calendar schedule information electronically on a daily basis.
- Maintain preventative maintenance tasking sheets electronically on a daily basis.
- Assist with the creation of estimates for HVAC equipment repair, replacement, and preventative maintenance work.
- Create, edit, and maintain administrative paperwork required as requested.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Proficiency in applying customer service skills.
- Proficiency in all technical aspects of installing, start‑up/commissioning, repairing, replacing, and performing preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment, components, and controls; proficiency in tools and equipment from varied manufacturers.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate success in multi‑tasking and prioritization.
- Demonstrate analytical, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.
- Ability to work in CMMS or ERP software systems.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced customer service environment.
- Possess a moderate to high stress tolerance.
- Possess motivation, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Must work well both in individual and team environments.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Valid State of WI Driver's License with clean driving record is required.
- EPA 608 Certification is required.
- Minimum 5‑7 years job experience required.
- Existing member (or ability to become a member) of Local 18 or Local 601 at a Journeyman level is required.
- Ability to pass a drug test (and ongoing random drug testing) is required. Ability to pass a background check is required.
