The Asset Protection Specialist is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud and supporting safety and environmental program compliance at The Home Depot in their assigned store/multi-store locations. They utilize tools to minimize loss to the Company, including but not limited to identifying incidents of theft and fraud, reviewing CCTV and exception reports, monitoring the store's physical security, auditing the Electronic Article Surveillance and driving a shrink elimination culture in the store.
Other responsibilities include: preparing accurate and detailed case reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries, preserving evidence, interacting with law enforcement and testifying in criminal and civil court actions. The Asset Protection Specialist must report any hazardous or unsafe condition to the Manager on Duty and carry out job responsibilities in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to themselves, other associates, vendors, customers, and the Company.
They must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to asset protection and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectives while supporting key asset protection and operational responsibilities.
- Maintain and prevent financial loss from theft and fraud in assigned store(s) and/or multi-store environments.
- Use tools such as CCTV review, exception reports, and surveillance systems to identify incidents and minimize shrink.
- Audit Electronic Article Surveillance systems and drive a shrink-elimination culture in the store.
- Prepare accurate and detailed case reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries; preserve evidence; interact with law enforcement; testify in criminal and civil proceedings as needed.
- Report hazardous or unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty and carry out responsibilities in a manner that minimizes risk of injury to self, colleagues, vendors, customers, and the Company.
- Demonstrate integrity at all times and respond to asset protection and operational concerns of all associates; stay focused on store-specific business objectives while supporting asset protection and operational responsibilities.
- Experience in loss prevention, asset protection, security, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills; ability to testify in legal proceedings when required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment; attention to detail and integrity.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental program compliance is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; reliable and trustworthy.
