Your OpportunityStantec is seeking an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest and demonstrated experience in natural resource management applied ecology. Your role as Ecosystem Restoration Technician will be to lead development and delivery of ecosystem restoration projects throughout the upper Midwest. In this role, you will support business development opportunities, assist in project management for environmental consulting and ecosystem restoration contracting projects, lead project implementation and field work, and support staff training and development.

This is a full-time position based out of our office in Madison, WI.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Lead field crews to carry-out tasks related to invasive species identification and control (herbicide spraying and cutting / mowing), native seeding and planting, prescribed burning, and brushing / tree removal. Equipment and tool operations to conduct the above tasks may include the use of light and heavy-duty trucks and trailers, chainsaws / brush saws, herbicide sprayers, ATVs / UTVs, and tractors / skid loaders with various attachments.
- Train and mentor ecosystem restoration staff to develop skills while conducting field tasks such as plant identification, invasive species control methods, ecological restoration techniques, and natural area assessments.
- Conduct ecological site assessments and assist project managers and environmental scientists to develop site planning documents, proposals, cost estimates, and project-specific safety plans.
- Interpret restoration plans, develop workplans, and issue work requests for effective delivery of ecosystem restoration projects.
- Effectively communicate workplans and field assignments to crew leaders and staff.
- Perform field quality control and help innovate field operations to meet high standards for safety, compliance, and quality.
- Implement a safety-first mindset and apply all established health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) standards during all office and field operations.
