About the Role
As a Department Manager, you’ll be the leader supporting and encouraging your whole team. By bringing everyone together you’ll create an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration, an entrepreneurial spirit, and helps you, your team, and H&M succeed. You will ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for your store, customers, and colleagues, while staying aware of your store’s strengths, opportunities, and competitors.
You’ll analyze sales data, follow up on results, and create plans to optimise outcomes and profits.
- You are responsible for the total OMNI customer experience in your store, ensuring visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines.
- Represent yourself and the H&M brand positively during customer interactions.
- Be aware of and take responsibility of your department’s strengths and identify commercial opportunities, acting on them.
- Establish and analyse sales and budget goals, creating plans to optimise results.
- Ensure customer service is provided in all areas of the store and that your team can actively promote and sell products to customers.
- Follow up that your team promotes our Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in‑store sustainability initiatives.
- Manage your department in a cost‑efficient way.
- Ensure correct routines in fitting room and checkout, including transaction, returns and exchanges.
- Ensure all admin routines for people and operations are handled correctly.
- Keep up‑to‑date with fashion trends, styles, brands, products, competitors and relevant influencers.
- Ensure your team provides product and fashion knowledge, and other relevant information during customer interactions.
- Recruit, onboarding, performance management, upskilling and developing your team in‑store.
- Complete performance evaluations and succession planning to support business and team needs.
- Retain and share your knowledge and skills with your team.
- Collaborate, plan and work with the in‑store Visual Merchandiser team.
- Give and receive feedback with colleagues to learn, develop and support each other.
- Plan and schedule the team.
- Communicate regularly to store colleagues to inform, motivate and inspire – daily, weekly meetings, etc.
- Ensure all procedures, routines and legal requirements in all store areas are followed.
- Participate in relevant onboarding and training processes relevant for your role and future development.
- Secure a clean and tidy sales floor and back‑of‑house including stockroom areas.
- Ensure high‑fashion quality visual and commercial product presentation with good garment care.
- Maintain good stock levels and provide input on allocation to the area team.
- Ensure the full garment cycle – from delivery to presentation – and fitting room routines follow internal standards and utilise all tools and technology.
- Uphold best practice for any in‑store OMNI Services & tech services/tools (Instore Care App, Click & Collect, Smart Store, etc.).
- Maintain price signs in‑store and throughout the sales floor following global, local and regional guidelines for consistent price perception.
- Update and upkeep BOH areas for all colleagues (key information, health & safety, tidiness, etc.).
- Responsible for opening and closing of the store daily.
- You are a strong leader who enjoys taking responsibility for others.
- You must be ambitious, an effective communicator, supportive, an analytical solution finder, capable of working with numbers and managing statistics.
