Job Summary:The Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin - Madison, School of Medicine & Public Health is seeking a Radiology Informatics Data Scientist who will work under the direction of Dr. Pallavi Tiwari and will work closely with other staff, medical school groups, UW Health, and the Radiology Informatics team. The research conducted by Tiwari lab utilizes medical imaging and clinical data to build and optimize AI and machine learning models that identify computerized image-based phenotypes, and their associations with genomics and histo-pathology for disease characterization, with the aim of developing personalized diagnostic tools towards improved early diagnosis, prognosis, and response to treatment for neurological conditions and other diseases.
The Radiology Informatics Data Scientist will be responsible for data cleaning and management, the development and maintenance of clinical research databases, helping develop and deploy novel imaging tools, and disseminating new knowledge through abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts. They will also be involved in project monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, oversight of trainees, and dissemination of program results and will work closely with the PI, lab manager, and Department of Radiology s Informatics Analysts.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Multiple Titles:
Data Scientist I, Data Scientist II, or Data Scientist III. Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration; professional and effective oral and written communications skills, and able to clearly relay information to faculty PIs and other researchers and prepare reports as needed; effective data management and organizational skills, ability to train, work with, and elicit cooperation from team members with regards to data stewardship;
ability to problem-solve effectively, with ability to develop and implement alternative solutions as needed; ability to learn and apply new ideas, techniques, processes, policies, functions, etc.; highly motivated and a self-starter.
Identifies, writes, or assists in developing grant opportunities, grant applications, and proposals to secure research funding
Organizes and automates project steps for data preparation and analysis
Composes and assembles reproducible workflows and reports to clearly articulate patterns to researchers and/or administrators
Prepares data sets for analysis including cleaning/quality assurance, transformations, restructuring, and integration of multiple data sources
Documents approaches to address research questions
Implements appropriate data science techniques under the guidance of other data scientists, statisticians, and/or other researchers to find data patterns and answer research questions chosen by the lead researcher including data visualization, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining
Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials and, disseminates information to appropriate entities
