Veterinary Technician at Labcorp supporting veterinarians in a drug development setting by performing radiographs, sample collection, animal husbandry, physical exams, anesthesia prep, and other lab-animal procedures in compliance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines. Role requires a Bachelor's in life sciences or an associate in laboratory animal/veterinary technology (or equivalent experience) and involves GxP practices, QA documentation, and occasional weekend/holiday work. Compensation listed $23–$25/hr with benefits, relocation assistance, and opportunities for certification (AALAS/ CVT) preferred.

What you will be doing:

As a Veterinary Technician you will support the Veterinarian by performing radiographs, collecting blood and fecal samples, routine animal care procedures such as dog dentals, physical exams, monitoring animal health and other veterinary laboratory procedures as well as surgical requirements (non-surgery suite) including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities in compliance with appropriate SOP, Protocol, and Regulatory Agency guidelines:

  • Ensure animal care complies with regulatory guidelines and ethical standards.

  • Perform animal husbandry duties as needed.

  • Report and assist in resolving animal care concerns.

  • Interpret and follow basic study protocols.

  • Apply good research practices (GxP) principles.

  • Review documentation and understand QA audit requirements.

  • Maintain client confidentiality.

  • Utilize computer software for study activities.

  • Conduct study procedures per protocol, SOPs, and regulations.

  • Learn and perform medicant administration, physical exams, dosing, sample collection, and restraint techniques.

  • Learn and assist with euthanasia methods, surgical prep, anesthesia, and surgical procedures.

  • Manage time and resources effectively.

  • Support other departments with study-related tasks (e.g., restraint, blood collection).

  • Gain knowledge of ACUA and IACUC activities.

  • Build positive relationships with veterinary staff and other teams.

  • Participate in process improvement projects as needed.

How you will be rewarded:

  • Pay Range: $23/hr.

    -$25/hr.
    After initial training period (based on performance) $.50 increase.

  • Work hours: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM

  • Additional Requirements: Work schedule may include occasional weekends and holidays.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in any Life Sciences field.

  • OR Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or in Veterinary Technology.

  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • 6 months in an animal related field preferred.

  • AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level is encouraged but not required.

  • CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician preferred but not required.
