This ecosystem restoration team works on a variety of projects in natural areas including properties owned by forest preserve districts, state and federal agencies, municipalities, energy providers, and private landowners.

This is a short term full‑time (40+ hours per week) seasonal position. This position supports projects on a seasonal basis, anticipated to start in March 2026 through October 2026. The length of employment can be extended or converted to long term based on an employee’s demonstrated exemplary performance. Start and end dates can be flexible to accommodate academic schedules.

Project sites are generally within 60‑90 miles of one of the three local offices, Madison, Brookfield, and De Pere.

• Work with field crews to carry out tasks related to ecosystem restoration and management on sites ranging from one to hundreds of acres.
• Identify and control invasive species through herbicide application, cutting, mowing, and other control methods.
• Seed and plant native species, conduct prescribed burning, and remove brush and tree material.
• Operate and use light and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers, chainsaws, brush saws, herbicide sprayers, ATVs/UTVs, tractors, and skid loaders with various attachments as required.
• Demonstrate skills and experience in plant identification, invasive species control methods, ecological restoration techniques, and natural area assessments.
• Lead field efforts for planning, collecting, and documenting field and written/tabular data for various restoration tasks.
• Implement a safety‑first mindset and apply all established health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) standards during all office and field operations.
