Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Inpatient Otolaryngology Surgery
WORK SCHEDULE: 100% FTE, 3 12‑hour shifts per week with 17 additional shifts per year. Shifts are 5 AM–5 PM or 6 AM–6 PM. 1:6 weekend rotation required. Hours may vary based on operational need.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide comprehensive care to adult otolaryngology patients in an inpatient setting, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team including attending physicians, resident physicians, speech‑language pathologists, case management, and nursing.
- Perform or assist with wound care, nasal cautery, rigid nasal endoscopy, flexible diagnostic laryngoscopy, and tracheostomy changes.
- Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients/families with acute, chronic, and/or potential health problems.
- Help support a smooth transition for patients after discharge through close collaboration with ambulatory APPs and RNs.
- Assist in the OR as needed.
- If Nurse Practitioner:
Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from an accredited nursing program. - If Physician Assistant:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited PA program.
- If Nurse Practitioner:
Active RN and APNP license in Wisconsin + active board certification as a NP (Adult;
Adult/Gerontology Acute Care; Adult/Gerontology Primary Care; Gerontology and RN First Assist preferred). - If Physician Assistant:
Active PA license in Wisconsin + active PA board certification.
All candidates must have an active DEA license or ability to obtain one prior to or upon hire, CPR certification, and advanced life support certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) if relevant to the practice area.
