Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Reports To: Director of Plant Operations

Primary Function: Responsible for creating and maintaining the process flow and production documentation for the manufacturing facility. Monitor safety and ROI, suggest process improvements, and justify costing.
Specific Duties /Accountabilities- Responsible for the production line – design, layout, install, qualify, and maintain.
- Act as a change agent through direct involvement in processes.
- Lead and assist on Kaizan and 5S events
- Resource for and expert in metal fabrication.
- Understand material properties and how to effectively form, bend, machine, and weld materials, such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum.
- Primary contact for other departments to the production line.
- Actively participate in the lean manufacturing initiatives, monitoring production quality indicators, and initiating improvement methods.
- Examine and suggest improvements for existing tooling, process equipment, controls, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc.
- Initiate Corrective Actions and Engineering Change Notices.
- Create and maintain the process flow (P-flow) and production documentation.
- Perform cost justifications, ROI, and feasibility studies for equipment procurement and process changes.
- Determine root cause internal quality issues and implement corrective actions to reduce likelihood of reoccurrence.
- Support Production line quality issues
- Manage tooling/gages/equipment calibrations
- Incoming inspection on CA parts
- Support Product Development – New Products & Current Product Redesign
- Participates in design reviews to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability
- Labor/production cost estimates for new product developments
- Assist with internal manufacturing vs. external contract manufacturing analysis
- Develop and review SOPs
- BOM verification
- Routings for manufactured items
- PFC, PFMEA, and input to the DFMEA
- Test and Assembly Fixture Definition
- Drawing sign off
- New Product Launch execution & Signoff
- Train Assemblers, stressing quality & efficiency
- Develop necessary process or material specification documentation and assist in the training of manufacturing operators.
- Responsible for the Saris generated manufacturing fixtures installed at suppliers.
- Support the management of company suppliers and performs failure analysis and corrective action responses for non-conforming product.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Vendor Certification/Quality assurance program.
- Actively engage in health, safety, and ergonomics within the company and in production.
- Travel as required (Domestic & International).
- Perform other duties when required or requested.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years’ experience working in manufacturing
- Fabrication background in welding, punching, machining and forming of thin to medium gauge metal
- Project Management experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Solid Works experience
- Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment
- Knowledge of the product development process, including ability to take new product designs and implement designs into production
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office and ERP software
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Must be able to deal with a fast-paced environment
- Experience programming robotic welders
- Lab View experience
- Experience with packaging design
- Prior experience within the cycling or outdoor industry
- Enthusiasm for the cycling/outdoor/triathlon industry
- Prior practical manufacturing engineering experience
