The Maintenance Planner's primary function is the management of the relevant maintenance

Systems, and the organization, prioritization, and communication of maintenance activities – preventative, project and break/fix. The Planner will take direction from the director of their designated department (Brewing or Packaging) and team managers along with the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager to determine what work needs to be accomplished and when. They will ensure that all parts, information, and materials area ready for the work to be completed by the maintenance team.

It is also within the Planner's scope of work to engage outside vendors to perform services onsite.

At the core of this role, the Maintenance Planner is intended to improve the efficiency of production processes through alignment of production and maintenance priorities, execution of projects and tasks, and driving communications between production and maintenance teams. Individuals in this position should have strong leadership skills, be able to communicate technical information, and possess strong mechanical aptitude. The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for understanding all the equipment and processes in the departments they have responsibility for and help department leadership to prioritize activities and manage spare parts inventory and budgets.

The planner will have responsibilities for components of the maintenance budget. This position will also have a strong hand in project management activities and lead the planning and execution of annual preventative maintenance work.

Primary Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Promote a safe working environment by ensuring all safety and risk management policies, standards and practices are adhered to and built into all activities within production and maintenance departments

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of dedicated production and facility equipment and processes; assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions or inconsistencies.
  • Provide clear communication to team members and leaders across all departments and functions.
  • Attend and direct meetings with various teams as needed.
  • Generate work orders, enter comprehensive job details and ensure preventative maintenance tasks fully align with OEM recommendations.
  • Provide work packs to complete planned work orders – permits, parts, and instructions.
  • Provide technical knowledge as part of larger project teams.
  • Assist the organization during emergency downtime situations by helping to coordinate contracted work or identifying possible resolutions.

Planning:

  • Act as the liaison between the maintenance team and production departments for planning maintenance tasks.
  • Plan and control maintenance tasks – planned and unplanned – ensuring they are completed in a timely manner and to the expected level of quality
  • Prepare preventative maintenance plans and schedules. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure work is transparently understood, well-coordinated and completed on time & on budget.
  • Work with Maintenance and Production leadership teams to develop and manage relevant portions of annual budgets.
  • Define, justify, and lead small to medium projects within various departments as needed.

Spare Parts Management:

  • Ensure Work with Maintenance Inventory Coordinator to order necessary parts for planned work and ensure inventory levels are appropriately maintained while also adhering to allotted spare parts budgets.
  • Identify spare part needs and own inventory for parts related to equipment or processes the Maintenance Planner is responsible for.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Inventory Coordinator to ensure inventory levels are maintained.
  • Own the root cause analysis process related to the improvement of maintenance activities & equipment reliability and utilize continuous process improvement tools to ensure critical downtime events are not repeated.
  • Work with the Maintenance Leadership team to identify gaps in technical capabilities, suggest training opportunities, and coach others on problem solving tools and techniques.
