PositionWe have an immediate opening for a Higher Education Regulatory and Accreditation Attorney with at least five years of experience in concentrated and specialized higher education regulatory matters described herein. We will consider candidates for any of our offices including our virtual office, The Link. This position has the possibility of a reduced billable-hour requirement and flexible schedule.
Responsibilities- Advise and represent clients on complex regulatory matters within the higher education sector, including Title IV, other financial aid, accreditation, structural changes/changes in ownership (mergers & acquisitions), and general higher education compliance.
- Contribute to the development of firm knowledge and educational resources related to higher education law.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment and, when needed, independently manage projects, interface with clients on specific issues, and direct and work alongside junior attorneys and paralegals.
- Possible travel to client meetings and conferences.
- Demonstrated experience with Title IV, accreditation, and/or institutional structural changes/ownership within the higher education landscape.
- Prior work with higher education regulatory agencies, accrediting agencies, and/or in-house at educational institutions is valued.
- Preferred experience includes work on matters related to privacy law (beyond FERPA), research, healthcare, consumer finance, student funding mechanisms, accreditor recognition requirements, or foreign school operations.
- Excellent academic credentials, strong judgment, ability to manage multiple projects, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which applying or commitment to obtain one as soon as possible.

Compensation and BenefitsPursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position is:
- California, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, D.C.: $125,000 - $175,000
- Colorado: $120,000 - $170,000
- Illinois and Minnesota: $110,000 - $175,000
- Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data.
