Overview

Introduction Do you like collections and bankruptcy litigation and advising on complex legal issues, but not rainmaking? Do you prefer a work environment with a team atmosphere and good work-life balance? A chance to work closely with a single client in-house and advise and train them on a variety of complex matters, including collections, bankruptcy and tax, but also other general matters as needed, such as contracts, lottery, unclaimed property and more?

The Department of Revenue (DOR) Office of General Counsel offers these opportunities. Currently we are filling one Collections Attorney position.

Our mission is to strengthen Wisconsin through fair tax and lottery administration, while educating and serving the public, our customers and communities. The ideal candidate will enjoy advising DOR employees on collection and bankruptcy issues, as well as representing DOR in circuit court and bankruptcy court, and assisting DOR employees with a variety of other general issues, including tax, contracts, lottery, unclaimed property, and more.

Position Summary

Represent the Department of Revenue in collections and bankruptcy tax cases before the Tax Appeals Commission and in cases before other administrative agencies and the courts, and in Ch. 227 (Administrative Procedure and Review) proceedings; provide legal advice and opinions on a variety of legal questions; and review proposed legislation and rules.

Salary Information

The starting rate for this position is between $78,686 to $123,052 annually ($37.83 to $59.16 hourly), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Use this Total Rewards Calculator to see an estimate of the total value of our competitive benefits package!

The classification of this position is Attorney
, which is in Pay Schedule 09, Pay Range 75. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.
