AboutThis Role
The primary role of the RBG Technology Director is to drive the strategic vision and tactical implementation of technology solutions within the RBG. Working internally as part of the RBG Professional Services Organization, you will collaborate closely with RBG leadership, the Corporate Technology team, and other stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and implement technology initiatives that optimize project execution and foster innovation.
Key focus areas include data management, optimization, automation, and visualization. You will develop consistent delivery approaches, shape the strategic plan for the next three to five years, and position HDR as a differentiator in the marketplace. Strong communication skills are essential to translate complex technological solutions for non‑technical leaders, and the ability to prioritize competing interests is critical. This position reports to the RBG Professional Services Director and collaborates with RBG market sectors and business classes on resource allocation, key hires, quality control, and technical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate development of a RBG technology vision and roadmap that identifies, develops, and monitors strategies for technology investments within the business group.
- Advance and implement technology related to digital delivery, data management, optimization, automation, and visualization.
- Collaborate and coordinate with external technology vendors and internal business class and corporate technology programs to align and advance RBG program initiatives for computer‑related technology such as data analytics and artificial intelligence.
- Develop and implement standardized approaches and best practices for increased efficiency of technology related work and quality of delivery.
- Identify programmatic hardware and software needs, such as high‑powered computing, and work with corporate technology to facilitate and implement solutions.
- Develop technology guidelines, policies, and RBG software validation and maintenance.
- Develop strategies and support practice and professional discipline groups to foster technology talent collaboration and skills development.
- Participate on project teams for larger programs and pursuits.
- Experience evaluating technology, and software development and deployment.
- Demonstrated understanding of a broad range of technologies and their applied delivery within the power, waste, and/or industrial sectors.
- Experience in numerical modeling, digital production, data sciences, and artificial intelligence.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with at least 5 projects executed or teams led in the Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction industries.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, information science, systems administration, or a similar field.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute applied technology strategies, implementation plans, and foster lasting change within an organization.
- Experience in data architecture, data management, and knowledge of industry standards.
