Graduate Clinical Coordinator – School of Nursing
Under the auspices of the Henry Predolin College of Health Sciences (HPCoHS) Dean and the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SoN) Associate Dean of, the Graduate Clinical Coordinator is responsible for securing, maintaining, and initiating new clinical and practicum site placements that meet the educational needs of graduate and doctoral students. This position leads community outreach efforts to obtain clinical, practicum, and residency placements that meet student educational needs and program accreditation standards.
The incumbent must actively support the mission of the SoN by working with faculty, staff and students to share in our core values of truth, compassion, justice, partnership, and community.
Administration Responsibilities
- Coordinates clinical services within graduate nursing programs.
- Conducts ongoing assessments and evaluation of procedures and processes.
- Assists HPCoHS Dean and SoN Associate Dean in fulfilling accreditation requirements.
- Maintains clinical and practicum records for the program in accordance with state and federal requirements.
- Leads policy development and policy revision efforts for graduate clinical/practicum placement.
- Maintains community learning platforms for clinical/practicum/residency students.
- Facilitates the clinical/practicum/residency orientation process.
- Maintains apprised of current graduate program curricula and graduate requirements.
- Participates in SoN committees.
- Represents the SoN at meetings, conferences, and seminars, and participates in professional organizations.
- Enhances visibility of SoN program on and off campus.
- Collaborates with faculty within the SoN in tracking student retention and progress.
- Assists in marketing and recruitment for students/faculty/preceptors.
- Facilitates faculty and staff development efforts.
- Participates in Advisory Board Meetings.
- Develops and implements strategies for building and maintaining clinical site placements and preceptor supervision.
- Develops knowledge of Wisconsin healthcare systems to enhance site selection; develops knowledge of identified states outside of Wisconsin healthcare systems as needed.
- Coordinates with the Program Specialist/Outreach Coordinator in serving the MSN and DNP nursing population and to project and manage enrollment related to clinical/practicum.
- Assists SoN Associate Dean and concentration-specific directors in providing preceptor orientation.
- Liaisons with Chief Compliance Officer to ensure accountability in preceptors and students completing health requirements and evaluations.
Finance Responsibilities
- Provides input into budget needs of clinical/practicum placement.
- Promotes the mission and vision of Edgewood University and the SoN.
- Fosters strong relationships with current and potential healthcare organizations to facilitate clinical/practicum placements at the graduate level.
- Oversees the placement of students in clinical/practicum sites.
- Identifies and coordinates the procurement of preceptors for graduate student placement.
- Travels to sites, as necessary, to initiate and formalize contractual agreements.
- Completes onsite visits to promote SoN programs and maintain positive work relationships.
- Engages and informs Deans regarding aspects of the clinical/practicum program education.
- Acts as a liaison between the student, the faculty, and the clinical/practicum/residency site and/or preceptor to ensure effective communication and exchange of information and evaluation.
- Assess potential clinical/practicum/residency sites and monitor current clinical/practicum sites to ensure students are placed in learning environments that meet the needs of the individual program(s).
- Identify new clinical/practicum/residency sites as necessary to ensure graduate nursing students receive the necessary breadth and depth of clinical/practicum education appropriate to the program of study.
- Coordinate with students, faculty, and preceptors in the evaluation of students engaged in the clinical/practicum/residency education component of the program.
- Coordinate the processes necessary for ongoing evaluation of clinical/practicum/residency sites.
