The Care Team Specialist (CTS) participates as a member of a care team and supports high quality patient care including engaging patients in maintaining their physical and mental well-being. The CTS performs technical, clinical, and administrative tasks which contribute to the smooth workflow and quality patient care experience in the clinic. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to pre-visit preparation, monitoring patient flow, rooming patients, obtaining patient histories and vital signs, managing certain test results following protocols, supporting Epic in-basket workflow, returning phone calls, and assisting with medical examinations and procedures.
The CTS assists and collaborates with the Registered Nurses and Medical Providers in the management and coordination of patient care. The CTS staff will participate in the review of team/provider in-baskets and My Chart messages for the assigned care team. Practitioner and Registered Nurse staff may delegate assignments to the CTS. CTS staff at GHC-SCW will have successfully completed medical assistant training, licensed practical nurse training, Paramedic training, or EMT training from an accredited program.

Minimum Qualifications
- Medical Assistants must have successfully completed an MA training program from an accredited school or program and must be eligible for and receive national certification within six (6) months of employment or must have three years of MA experience and have current national certification. Medical Assistants must obtain national certification from one of the following certifying organizations and must maintain certification by meeting CME requirements:
- National Health career Association (CCMA); or
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or
- American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA); or
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or
- By an approved and accredited certifying organization with CME requirements.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); or
- Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT); or
- Paramedic (EMT-P).
