Job Summary

The Jerry Ensemble Pianist is responsible for playing accompaniment for Overture’s Jerry Ensemble. This includes playing at the auditions, regular weekly rehearsals, and all performance dates. Performances vary each season but include all Cocktails with Tim and Karra events (both days), Jerry Ensemble Cabaret and opening number the Jerry Awards Shows. The Jerry Ensemble Pianist will also be the first artist contacted for extra events where a pianist is needed like the Jimmy Awards Auditions and the Jerry Awards Shows and any music workshops hosted by Overture’s Broadway Engagement Programming team.

This role will work closely with the Jerry Ensemble Music Director in picking music and, when needed, arranging music for the group.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Accompanist for the Southern WI Jerry Ensemble – rehearsals, auditions and performances.
  • Work closely with Jerry Ensemble Music Director to adjust selected songs or arrange music.
  • Embraces and participates in the advancement of the JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion) mission and vision of the organization.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in music, performance, or similar field.
  • At least 4 years accompanist experience for student vocal groups.
  • Familiarity with musical theater genre.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Advanced piano proficiency
  • Music theory & harmony understanding
  • Score interpretation & reduction
  • Transposition & arranging
Working Conditions

The requirements and conditions described below are representative of the general environment the employee is exposed to on a day-to-day basis while performing this job.

  • Must be able to play piano for regular rehearsals.
  • Required to work on a computer and travel to/from rehearsals.
  • Works evenings and weekends.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $25.00/hr
