Essential Functions

  • • Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and others in Product Development in the creation, development, maintenance, design & improvement of products & technology in accordance with established business goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for planning, executing, and managing the technical aspect of projects to implement new products, and manage changes to existing products and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform complex engineering assignments that involve product design, test of materials, specification preparation, process study, research investigation and other related tasks for product improvement and development.
  • Understand customer needs (Voice of Customer, VoC) in the industries served and successfully translate these into product improvements and new products – through travel with sales or field service along with working on strategic business partnerships with sales channels such as OEMs and Engineering Firms.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing products and processes to provide recommendations for performance, quality, cost, and manufacturing improvements.
  • Periodically inspects completed parts, assemblies, and systems to ensure conformance with Sani-Matic engineering and equipment standards.
  • Provide engineering support and training for all products to all departments and customers as required.
  • Communicate regularly with vendors to obtain operational information and technical assistance.
  • Support compliance with regulatory entities (e.g., ASME BPE, 3-A, FDA, UL, CE)
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by manager.

Knowledge / Skills / Expertise:

  • ABOVE ALL – Passion & energy for the work, being a self-starter, and a desire to learn & grow are required.
  • Teamwork – this position works with every department within the company – be able to be a team player on the primary marketing/product team, but also when working with other groups.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, preferred) OR Drafting/Design Certification with Relevant Experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in sanitary design & processing applications (food, beverage, nutraceutical, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, etc.) preferred – experience in Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) applications a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing related design work (approval, assembly, and detailed production fabrication drawings) desired
  • Experience in 2D & 3D modeling software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD) – at minimum, enough to review and provide input on designs. Preferred – experience to develop, tweak, and release new product development designs.
  • Experience and/or interest in new technologies (e.g., 3D printing, CFD software, AI, AR, IoT, etc.) to integrate and utilize with new product development
  • Interest and excitement in promoting new product improvements in conjunction with marketing through video, webinar, or other promotional activities
  • Experience in fluid dynamics and associated technical components (e.g., pumps, valves, instrumentation) and aspects (e.g., NPSH, flow, pressure) around it.
  • Experience with capital expenditure justification, including Total Operating Cost and ROI.
  • Knowledge of product costs and experience with working towards profitability goals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work within a cross functional team is essential, as well as exert influence without alienating others.
  • Aptitude to leverage the technical resources of our vendors and suppliers.
  • Detail oriented, independent thinking, self-starting, motivated.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, decision making skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, CRM, 2D modeling (e.g., AutoCAD), 3D modeling (e.g., Solid Works) Above average typing, spelling, grammar, and excel skills
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Environmental Conditions:

    • Occasional travel to suppliers, customer facility locations, or trade shows may be required – up to 10%.
    • Exposure to certain contaminants in the shop, at times.
    • Exposure to loud noise levels in the shop, at times.
