Primary FunctionAs a member of a project team, the Graduate Electrical Engineer performs engineering and design duties under close supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities- Work with the project team to create design documents and drawings, including wiring diagrams from schematics, bills of materials, and apply field mark‑ups of as‑built drawings under direct supervision.
- Perform engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, simplified load flow, and short circuit calculations under direct supervision.
- Learn and apply engineering application software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, load flow and short‑circuit studies under supervision.
- Complete tasks to meet project schedule requirements.
- Apply engineering standards (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI).
- Use the document management system and corporate standard engineering practices.
- Spend time at job sites for hands‑on knowledge and additional training in substation construction and design.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work.
- Identify project‑related problems and propose solutions.
- Travel out‑of‑town for short periods as required by projects and assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (power focus preferred). Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain EIT within one year of hire. Prior internship or related work experience in the power field is preferred.
Skills- Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals.
- Basic knowledge of three‑phase power systems.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in common word processing, spreadsheet, and e‑mail software.
- This position requires minimal physical effort.
- Must be able to sit at a desk and use a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
- Will primarily work indoors with occasional outdoor exposure to weather and noise.
- Must be willing to travel overnight for training or meetings (10%).
- May work extended hours, including weekends, periodically.
- May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
