Job Summary:The Director of the Wisconsin Union’s Office for Student Organizations, Leadership and Involvement (SOLI) at the University of Wisconsin - Madison provides primary leadership, administrative oversight, mission and vision development, budget oversight, supervision, both direct and indirect, and day to day management of SOLI, including 8 full-time staff and 30+ student employees. The position also holds responsibility for campus wide efforts and partnership development around activities and issues critical to student organizations and leadership opportunities.
KeyJob Responsibilities:
- Serve in a leadership capacity within the Wisconsin Union Department of Social Education (5%).
- Coordinate, in collaboration with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the Student Organization Resource Team (SORT) and serve as resources related to the Student Organization Code of Conduct (10%).
- Serve as a unit liaison, collaborating with internal and external stakeholder groups to foster cross-unit partnership efforts regarding student affairs initiatives (20%).
- Exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees (20%).
- Oversee staff that manage the Student Activity Center (SAC) and maintain a positive, proactive relationship with the Student Activity Governance Board (SACBG), SACGB Director and SACGB Advisor. (5%).
- Assist in the development of unit-focused strategic planning initiatives and unit objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources and alignment with the strategic plan (20%).
- Manage and oversee the budget (20%).

Compensation:The starting salary for the position is $85,000 - but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications:- 6 years minimum experience in student activities, student leadership, student organization advising, student affairs, residence life or experiential learning at the university or college level.
- Demonstrated experience in supervision of professional staff.
- Demonstrated experience with student organization conduct, policy development, and education.
- Demonstrated familiarity and skill with student organization management software systems.
Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, College Student Professional or a related field.
