Career Development Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a Career Development Coordinator to join the Office of Experiential Learning in the Division for Teaching and Learning (DTL). This position will provide leadership, advising, and mentorship to scholars engaging in impactful experiential learning opportunities through 1-on-1 advising, small-group engagement, and workshops facilitation. This position will manage, implement programming, and provide advising for the OEL internship program and the OEL career & internship hub.

Additionally, this position will assist with the organization, leadership, and professional development of summer and academic-year skill-building and mentoring initiatives within the office. We seek a team-focused, student-centered, and outcome-oriented individual who works collaboratively with OEL staff, students, campus partners and alumni to offer transformative mentorship and career skills-building opportunities. This position will work closely with an inclusive, outcome-orientated, and dedicated team focused on student engagement and success in high-impact practices.

Expected responsibilities for this position include the following
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic vision for the OEL internship program and the OEL career & internship hub, and facilitate initiatives in alignment with these goals.
  • Manage and provide administrative tasks for the OEL Internship Program and the OEL career & internship hub.
  • Exercise supervisory authority, including recruiting, hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving student employees (which may include graduate assistants) for the OEL internship and mentoring initiatives.
  • Use data, assessments, and evidence-based practices to lead the planning, coordination, administration, and facilitation of 1-on-1 and small group advising, mentorship initiatives, and professional development programming for students, OEL interns and supervisors/mentors.
  • Increase student access to career and skill-building opportunities, including developing programming and building career and internship pathways specifically tailored to first-generation and limited-income scholars.
  • Create and disseminate marketing communications, emails, and social media posts for career-centered opportunities.
  • Knowledgeable about best-practices within the career services field, including familiarity with tools frequently utilized to support career development (i.e. Handshake, Linked In, Big Interview, etc.).
  • Support summer research programming and academic-year mentoring initiatives by providing professional development, supervision, and organization for the programs.
  • Actively and intentionally engage with the career services community, including building new partnerships, strengthening existing collaborations, and seeking out opportunities for joint programming.

This position is full-time, 100%.

Terminal, 2-year appointment. This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.
