Schedule: Varies:
Each section is 75 minutes long, meets once a week; offered Monday-Thursday at various times between 9:30am and 5:15pm. Possibility of online asynchronous sections as well.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum: $15,307 ($3,401.50/month)

Number of Positions: 10 – 15

Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD program at UW-Madison.
  • Previous teaching, facilitating, and/or presenting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of college student development and previous experience working with business undergraduates preferred.
  • Expertise in academic and career exploration, career development, leadership development, and diversity/inclusion a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Willingness and ability to provide both positive and constructive, honest feedback to course facilitators and students enrolled in the course.
  • Strong listening skills and ability to ask open-ended coaching/probing questions to stimulate classroom discussion and to encourage student facilitators’ growth and development.
  • Facilitation, teaching, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to assess students’ work and provide fair judgements and constructive feedback when grading; willingness to grade according to provided rubrics to ensure grading consistency.
  • Ability to enforce policies fairly and consistently and provide effective classroom management.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive and confidential conversations and information.
  • Commitment to PPFB and WSB Undergraduate Program goals and learning outcomes.
Position Summary /

Job Duties

General Business 110:
Personal and Professional Foundations in Business (PPFB) is a one-credit introductory personal and professional development course for newly admitted BBA students. The course provides an introduction to Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) and undergraduate program resources and covers self-assessment and awareness, academic/career exploration and development, leadership skills development, and diversity and inclusion. PPFB Instructors serve as a resource, mentor and guide to student facilitators who are concurrently leading the one-credit PPFB course sections.

They also facilitate course curriculum, oversee course grading and meet weekly with teaching clusters.

  • Facilitate PPFB course curriculum in an engaging way, consistent with course learning outcomes and the provided lesson plans.
  • Lead a teaching cohort of two student facilitators (undergraduate business majors) who will assist the instructor with instruction, grading, and communication with students.
  • Provide regular updates to Leadership & Engagement staff regarding facilitator performance and feedback that has been provided.
  • Meet with facilitators outside of class throughout the semester to provide feedback, debrief execution of course lesson plans, and plan for upcoming course meetings.
