** Madison College is recruiting a pool of highly motivated and qualified candidates to teach part time courses for the Safety Education program, which includes Group Dynamics, Multiple Offenders and Traffic Safety. * SUMMARY:

** This position is responsible for classroom instruction using a standardized curriculum. General traffic safety topics and issues are the focus of the course. Applicants must meet the certification requirements of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation prior to hire.

This position works closely with the Program Director of Safety Education.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
** The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Responsible for classroom instruction in traffic/highway safety.
2. Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies.
3. Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, course content, and other academic matters.
4. Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback.
5. Integrate the use of technology into the teaching and learning process.
6. Design and implement strategies to engage students in the learning process.
7. Function in a team environment with the ability to support a cohesive department atmosphere.
8. Comply with college policies and directions regarding submitting grades, recordkeeping, and maintaining office hours for student assistance.
9. Participate in all mandatory Safety Education and Department of Transportation workshops and in-service training activities.
10. Adhere to the procedures established by the Safety Education Program and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
11. Plan and implement professional development strategies to continually improve teaching and professional experience.
12. Maintain a satisfactory driver record.
13. Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
14. Demonstrate a commitment to the college values of excellence, respect and integrity.

SKILLS:

** 1. Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, learner-centered instruction, active learning, and evaluation.
2. Skill in the use of educational technology.

** MINIMUM QUALIFICATION PER COURSE:
**** Traffic Safety:
** 1. Two (2) years of occupational experience, or comparable experience and education in the area of traffic safety or a related field.
