Department Overview

Centers for Student Success and Belonging include the APIDASC, LCC, BCC, MSC, OIE, CID, DCC, and GSCC.

  • 1x1 w/ supervisor (.5 hour/week)
  • Bi-weekly All Intern meeting (1.5 hours)
  • Desk Shifts (10 hours/week)
Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum

Minimum: $15.00

  • Knowledge of the cultural centers and interest in community belonging and development
  • The ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving, and adaptability
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism when helping guests
  • Interest and skills to collaborate with others and work effectively in a team environment
  • Comfortable with basic tech troubleshooting and able to handle audio/visual needs for events
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to keep to a preset schedule and be punctual
  • Be in good academic standing with the University
  • Be an undergraduate

  • Excellent written/verbal communications skills
  • Ability to lead and work in teams
  • Experience with front desk operations and customer service

Position Summary /

Job Duties
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all visitors to the cultural centers and the Red Gym. This could include students, faculty, staff, organizations, alumni, guests and the general public.
  • Staff the front desk of BCC, MSC, and GSCC during hours of operation.
  • Attend and actively participate at staff meetings, staff training, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Actively contribute to the inclusive and welcoming environment of the cultural centers.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries related to the BCC, MSC, and GSCC and campus in general.
  • Open and close the centers according to prescribed procedures during appropriate shifts.
  • Keep front desk areas and all SSB spaces clean, vacuumed, and orderly.
  • Set-up and tear-down, including A/V equipment, for events hosted in the spaces.
  • Give tours of spaces and serve on occasional panels about the cultural centers.
  • Work on special projects as assigned, which may include: data entry projects, developing flyers and program announcements, and other tasks.

  • Lift lightweight chairs
  • Set up reservable rooms including moving tables on wheels
  • Sit for long periods at a desk
  • Use digital screens
