Qualifications:- Digital media related work, including social media, video editing, or other marketing experience. Familiarity and comfort with public event management or community outreach.
Required:
- 2+ years of experience working with digital media platforms, ad design/planning, and video editing
- 1+ years of experience working with and maintaining social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Linked In, etc.
- 1+ years of experience with community engagement and outreach events (i.e. tabling, expos, public lectures, etc.)
Preferred:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment as well as independently
- Experience with social media analytics and tracking tools, e.g. Hootsuite, Facebook Insights, or Twitter Analytics preferred
Job Duties:
This position would be working with the WID Illuminating Discovery Hub Programming team. This group of outreach and community engagement professionals is responsible for the design, promotion, and execution of several community centered programs such as the Wisconsin Science Festival, Crossroads of Ideas, Kohler Fellows, and Science to Street Art.
This position has two primary components:
Digital Media ManagementPosition will be project-oriented based on areas of expertise and confidence in specific marketing efforts related to social media content and strategy development, graphic design, ad management, website management, photography and videography.
Marketing/Promotion of Events and ProgramsAssist with day-to-day operations of the statewide Wisconsin Science Festival events and additional year-round programs. Duties may include but are not limited to: cultivating and tracking statewide partnerships, managing event logistics and volunteer opportunities, and assisting with data collection and impact measures. Provide on-going support for promotional activities related to programs and events. Assist with day-of event responsibilities including setups, teardowns and on-site event management and engagement with event attendees.
PhysicalDemands:
May be asked to help with setups/tear downs and general in-event needs such as transporting equipment, mascot work, and tabling events. Reasonable accommodations will be offered upon request.
