Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) seeks a seasoned, collaborative and curious live radio talent to host our popular midday and Garden Talk broadcasts. This host will be responsible for interviewing guests and moderating live callers for engaging segments on a broad range of discussion topics such as health, home improvement, technology, the environment and gardening. The host must also conduct author, creator and newsmaker interviews on subjects ranging from humor to history.
The host will work with a collaborative team of producers, prepare background research, suggest segment ideas, write and review scripts for a daily two‑hour live radio show, and produce subsequent promo recordings. The host will represent the show and WPR at occasional live remote broadcasts and audience events. This position reports to the executive producer of the midday production unit.
This full‑time, onsite, in‑studio position is based in Madison, WI, at Vilas Communication Hall with occasional travel for remote broadcasts. The position is ongoing/renewable. Employees must arrange their own transportation. UW‑Madison Driver Authorization information is available at .

Key Job Responsibilities- Deliver on‑air content for various platforms, including facilitating on‑air conversations and providing informational content for audiences.
- Represent the unit at public events, participating in promotional, community, and fundraising events as necessary.
- Serve as a resource for questions and projects.
- Develop and contribute content that includes interviewing sources, programming music, writing stories, and completing other necessary production tasks to create content.
- Maintain familiarity with studio equipment and applicable technology for production and broadcasting.
- Test and operate studio broadcasting technology and equipment.
- Minimum of five years of live radio hosting experience.
- Experience working with a team of creative production staff.
- Superior communication skills, including excellent writing skills for broadcast and web.
- Familiarity with studios, equipment, and engineering systems.
- Experience with live call‑in format.
- Experience in Public Media.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work within tight deadlines, and manage competing responsibilities.
Bachelor's degree OR at least five years of professional, full‑time experience in media production or a related field is preferred.
CompensationExpected salary range: $80,000 up to $87,000. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
