Duties- Supervise and insure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group
- Provide and maintain a clean, healthy and safe environment for the children; assume equal share of keeping classroom, storage rooms, and bathroom clean, neat and orderly
- Plan activities to meet the needs of assigned classes, with team-teacher if applicable. Provide monthly/weekly lesson plans.
- Implement the daily program/activities with the help of a team-teacher or aide if applicable
- Create an inviting and welcoming space for children and families using bulletin boards, diverse pictures, and children’s individualized artwork.
- Provide a model for children to follow in use of verbal and body language at all times; sit with children at all meal and snack times, modeling good manners and encouraging positive conversation skills
- Offer/conduct individual conferences with parents of each child at least twice yearly
- Fulfill continuing education requirements each year. 25 hours per year (20 hrs must pertain to classroom.) to be compliant with NAC’s continuing education requirements. Be able to share with staff the experience and items of interest gained from these opportunities.
- Make observations of children’s development and create individualized goals for each child. Provide a comprehensive portfolio to parents at transition time.
- Write and contribute to monthly Parent Newsletters
- Fill out Accident/Incident reports when needed and record in log book
- Attend monthly staff meetings & Family involvement events
- Supervise, mentor and train Assistant Childcare Teachers
- Keep Director informed in advance of program needs
- Report to Director any special needs or problems of individual children
- Uphold child/family confidentiality standards
- Report to Dane County Child Protective Services and the Director any cases of suspected child abuse or neglect
- Handle discipline promptly, in accordance with stated center policy on discipline
- Purchase or charge minor supplies, being reimbursed by the Director upon furnishing receipts
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Your initial Registry certificate, CPR and other trainings will be covered at the employer’s expense unless you decide to leave employment in less than two years. In this instance, it would be the responsibility of the staff member to reimburse all above fees to the employer.
- 80 days/120 half-days experience in licensed child care program; teaching license or necessary courses;
Registry Certificate - Be familiar with and follow all Koala-T-Kare policies and NAC standards; read the licensing requirements of State
- Ability to lift 40 lb. water jugs and children 20-30 pounds on a regular basis
