The Madison Area YMCA is hiring 2026 Gymnastics Camp Counselors for our summer camp program serving school-aged children.
Camp Dates:June 22, 2026, through August 27, 2026
What You'll Do- Leading age-appropriate gymnastics skills, drills, and movement activities
- Assist campers with basic gymnastics skills using proper spotting and safety techniques
- Encourage confidence, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship
- Communicate clearly with campers, families, and coworkers
- Enjoy working with elementary-aged children
- Have interest or background in gymnastics, cheer, or movement-based sports
- Understand the importance of safety and supervision in a gym setting
- Are confident leading groups and providing clear instruction
- Want to build leadership skills and serve as a positive role model
- Are patient, dependable, and energetic
- Are 18 years or older
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have prior experience working with youth (camp, gymnastics, or youth sports programs preferred)
- Competitive pay
- Up to 40 hours per week (schedule varies)
- Up to 40 hours paid, mandatory trainings (June 15-19, 2026)
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications provided
- Eligibility for a 10-week stay incentive
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat in excess of 90F, high humidity, and rain.
- Ability to be in water/pool for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, walking, and hiking on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
- Comfortable administering first aid and exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases is possible.
All employees are expected to maintain boundaries, follow mandated reporting requirements, and uphold our policies and procedures to protect youth and participants. This includes attending required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors, and adhering to procedures that minimize risk. Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards.
