Overview
The Madison Area YMCA is hiring Fine Arts Camp Counselors for our summer camp program serving school-aged children.

What You'll DoAs a Fine Arts Camp Counselor, you'll create a safe, organized, and inspiring environment where campers will explore creativity through hands-on art experiences by:
- Leading age-appropriate fine arts activities such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media projects
- Guiding campers through the creative process while encouraging self-expression
- Supporting positive behavior and collaboration during group projects
- Planning projects, preparing materials, assisting with set-up/clean-up, and maintaining organized art spaces
- Communicating clearly with campers, families, and coworkers
- Enjoy working with elementary-aged children
- Have an interest or background in visual arts or fine arts
- Are patient, organized, and comfortable managing art materials
- Can balance creativity with clear expectations and structure
- Want to build leadership skills and serve as a positive role model
- Are dependable and energetic
- Are 18 years or older
- Have a high school diploma or
- Have prior experience working with youth (camp or art preferred)
- Competitive pay
- Up to 40 hours per week (schedule varies)
- Up to 40 hours paid, mandatory trainings (June 15-19, 2026)
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications provided
- Eligibility for a 10-week stay incentive
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat in excess of 90°F, high humidity, and rain.
- Ability to be in water/pool for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, walking, and hiking on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
- Comfortable administering first aid and exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases is possible.
All employees are expected to maintain boundaries, follow mandated reporting requirements, and uphold our policies and procedures to protect youth and participants. This includes attending required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors, and adhering to procedures that minimize risk. Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards.
