Position Overview
The King Air 350 Infrared Mapping Pilots are responsible for supporting multiple programs across various U.S. locations. This position requires an elevated level of professionalism, independence, and technical proficiency. The pilot will operate in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory standards while maintaining a strong focus on safety, reliability, and mission success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for special mission operations in a crew environment utilizing a modified King Air 350 aircraft.
- Execute precise aerial flight operations in accordance with customer specifications.
- Successfully complete training to Part 135 standards.
- Perform command pilot duties in coordination with an onboard technical operator and other Tenax or contract pilots.
- Ensure compliance with all aircraft manufacturer requirements, flight manuals, directives, company policies, and mission-specific procedures.
- Assist with aircraft upkeep, scheduling, safety management, and fueling operations.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight/post-flight inspections and briefings.
- Support overall program success by exceeding customer expectations and performing duties efficiently and effectively.
The operations tempo is entirely based on the severity of the fire season. Each aircraft is staffed with 3-4 pilots to ensure 100% availability while providing sufficient days off for the crew. Each pilot is expected to be available for the entirety of their contract period (May – October); however, there will be opportunities to travel home for short periods. Relocation is not required.
Compensationand Benefits
This position pays $1,000.00 per flight day, plus additional compensation for training and travel days. All approved travel related expenses are reimbursed while on assignment.
Minimum Qualifications- FAA Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating.
- Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate.
- Beechcraft King Air 350 type rating with Proline 21 experience.
- Minimum flight experience:
- Total Time: 2,500 hours
- Pilot-in-Command (PIC): 1,200 hours (200 hours in category/class flown – King Air)
- 100 fixed-wing PIC hours in the preceding 12 months
- Cross-Country: 500 hours
- Instrument: 75 hours, Actual Instrument: 50 hours
- Night PIC: 200 hours
- Make/Model: 25 hours in King Air B200/350
- Make/Model: 10 hours within the preceding 12 months (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must successfully complete all required training, checks, and drug testing per program requirements.
- ATP Certificate.
- Extensive King Air B200 and/or 350 experience.
- Extensive familiarity with Pro Line 21 and Fusion avionics systems.
- Previous firefighting/mapping/survey flight experience.
- Current USDA/DOI interagency card.
- Prior operational experience supporting fire containment or airborne data collection missions.
