POSITION SUMMARY:
The Logistics Coordinator has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities, which they are assigned to daily. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Lead is responsible for oversight of the associates dedicated to the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in their area in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. As part of the DSV team, Associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality.
Associates are expected to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.
- Training Responsibilities:
- Mentor and train new and existing associates in specific distribution activities to help achieve established customer demands
- Train new and existing associates on current Standard Operating Procedures, including shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control
- Assist in forklift operation and certification for new and existing associates
- Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities:
- Oversee unloading of inbound shipments, orderly staging of product, and picking of outbound shipments; verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers and ensure products are properly counted
- Load orders efficiently according to doors and trailers
- Process all shipping/receiving/picking per Standard Operating Procedures
- Research discrepancies in the shipping and receiving process
- Customer Service:
- Maintain professional appearance and communications
- Communicate with customers by phone, electronic means, or in person
- Prepare required activity reports accurately and efficiently for site management
- Quality Control Responsibilities:
- Use appropriate documentation to ensure product and orders are received or shipped correctly and accurately picked
- Verify products and orders meet quality standards; report damages or discrepancies; stack, package, shrink wrap, and label products
- Process all quality control functions per SOP
- Report inconsistencies to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager
- Participate in quality meetings
- Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:
- Comply with relevant ISO standards and execute safety protocols
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area; assist in warehouse security
- Comply with SOPs, corporate and site policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards
- Participate in safety meetings
- Labor Management:
- Direct warehouse team to achieve objectives; assist with productivity and payroll hour capture
- Assist in maintaining an appropriate number of employees for a productive workforce
- Participate in establishing and implementing work schedules
- Ensure proper handling of products according to quality procedures
- Responsibility and Authority:
- Participate in department meetings
- Identify non-conformities and initiate corrective actions through designated channels
- Bring all non-conformities to the attention of the Quality Department
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate equipment such as sit-down/stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, sweepers, scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, Aisle Master, pallet jacks
- Keep equipment maintained and report problems; inspect and perform minor maintenance daily
- Maintain active forklift certification
- Maintenance:
- Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned
- Other Duties:
- Perform other clerical and administrative tasks as guided by site management
- Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed; overtime as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year experience in logistics/distribution or a relevant environment
- Ability to operate MHE
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
- Forklift training program completion
- Computer
Skills:
Basic computer skills, RF scanners, WMS functions - Language
Skills:
English (reading, writing, verbal) - Mathematical
Skills:
Basic to intermediate quantities verification, inventory counting - Other: Attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, effective communication, adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- 2-4 years in warehouse/logistics/distribution
- 2-4 years forklift experience
- Current or prior MHE certification
- Occasionally: hand and finger manipulation, sitting, handling product
- Frequently: bending
- Constantly: walking and standing
- Ability to lift/carry and push/pull 21-50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat or kneel
Noise level usually low to moderate; exposure to fumes or airborne particles is rare
