The Madison Correctional Facility is a minimum security Correctional facility, of adult females. Madison Correctional Facility is located in Madison, Indiana.
At Madison Correctional Facility, incarcerated individuals are involved in programming and work various jobs, both on grounds and off. The goal is that through treatment and rehabilitation, the facility will help prepare incarcerated women to re‑enter their community with more skills and confidence than when they arrived.
As the Clerical Assistant, you will be assigned to a Library at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. You will ensure the offender population has the necessary equipment, materials, assistance, and access to the courts, and provides the necessary educational and leisure materials. Incumbent assists offenders by answering questions and directing them to a wide variety of sources.
Salary StatementThe salary for this position traditionally starts at $27,638.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the LifeThe essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Supports the daily operations of an organization by performing general office tasks
- Greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate person according to their needs.
- Answers telephones and gives information to callers, take messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
- Opens, sorts, and routes incoming mail and correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail.
- Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.
- Accurately maintains and organizes office files.
- Delivers messages and run errands.
- Maintains inventory, orders, and distributes supplies.
- Completes tasks or projects assigned by supervisor in a timely manner.

What You'll Need for SuccessIndividuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
- Working knowledge of general office functions and clerical procedures.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and proofreading skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work with sensitive documents and information, and be privy to sensitive agency information without divulging information to internal or external parties.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to provide effective and professional customer service to internal and external parties.
A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required.
