Overview
The Production Control Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing production processes to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing operations. The Specialist role oversees material procurement, production scheduling, packaging design and maintenance, and master schedule management. A successful candidate will ensure production remains on schedule and aligns with customer expectations, while also supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining strong interdepartmental and customer communication.
EssentialFunctions
- Ensures safety of self and others by following all Safety Policies/Procedures and wearing all required PPE.
- Plan and manage production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders
- Manage plant work schedules to recover from unplanned production down or manpower constraints.
- Communicate schedule updates across departments to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Maintain accurate records of material usage, inventory levels, and vendor lead times.
- Assist in minimizing interruptions to production schedules through effective parts and materials procurement practices.
- Utilize PLEX or similar ERP to maximize resource planning and production efficiency.
- Maintain effective communication with various groups such as customers, business development, etc., to ensure on-time delivery of products and team support.
- Analyze sales orders releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
- Ability to recognize and help solve production, scheduling, or material related issues. Identify root causes for continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal and external packaging to meet the customers’ specifications, quality and EHS standards.
- Ensure packaging supports product flow, minimize waste, and enhance material handling.
- Standardize packaging procedures and documentation.
- Create and monitor fabrication schedules to ensure on-time completion of projects.
- Ability to work in an off-site warehouse including the use of a forklift to load and unload trucks and move materials.
- Regular attendance is required.
Must be flexible to work in all areas and in your department regardless of duties listed above in order to accomplish YKTA Goals and objectives.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications , Education, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or related area or equivalent work experience.
- 3 years minimum Production Control/ Customer Service experience with a demonstrated track-record of success. Automotive industry experience is preferred.
- Experience with ERP software, experience. Plex is preferred.
- Proficient personal computer and system software skills.
- Attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and adapt to changes in priorities and direction.
- Work is conducted in an industrial office/ plant setting.
- Frequent movement throughout an industrial plant environment being exposed to high noise levels and equipment normally used in stamping / welding/ Ecoat environments.
- Prolonged periods of standing on the plant floor.
- Must be able to traverse the entire facility.
- Must be able to lift up to 33 pounds at times.
- Extended period of sitting at a computer is possible.
- Able to work in a non-climate controlled off-site warehouse when required.
