Overview
The Prototyping Manufacturing and Integration Division (PMID) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc offers a full-time Procurement Assistant position on-site at our Madison, AL facility. The Procurement Assistant will perform routine to complex purchasing duties related to material purchases for projects, build procurement workflows, maintain the procurement process, and ensure materials are ordered on time. The role involves working with engineering and fabrication teams to interpret Bills of Materials (BOM) and consolidating material needs to create purchase requests for the corporate purchasing team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is expected.
This position will require at minimum the ability to obtain & maintain a SECRET clearance from the US Department of War.
Responsibilities- Perform duties related to purchasing/procurement of materials for projects
- Ensure on-time delivery of materials and initiate actions for returns of rejected or unsuitable orders
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Maintain accurate documentation of all formal material requests and a traceable log of materials ordered
- Track various purchasing schedule requirements
- Create purchase orders and ensure their accuracy
- Assist in preparing documentation and asset management tags for inventory control
- Ensure appropriate material quantities to prevent production disruptions
- Monitor and communicate material availability and lead-time data to engineering and production teams
- Audit material requests for accuracy (part numbers, material grades, and purchased parts) to ensure correct orders
- Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Work in an environment requiring physical activities and ability to lift up to 50 lbs (50+ lbs with assistance) and wear required PPE
- H.S. diploma or G.E.D., plus advanced training and 2-3 years’ experience in purchasing/procurement
- Ability to read and interpret BOMs, technical drawings, and material specifications (preferred)
- Active or current SECRET clearance from the US Department of War (preferred)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams on the floor
