This hands‑on role, based on the factory floor in a highly collaborative environment, focuses on designing, programming, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems to support the operation of our advanced cold spray machines for coating, repairing, and building high‑performance components.
The ideal candidate will be safety‑conscious, customer‑focused, and passionate about driving automation and efficiency in cutting‑edge manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems to control and optimize Titomic’s cold spray additive manufacturing equipment.
- Develop and document control system architectures, including PLC logic, HMI (Human‑Machine Interface), and SCADA systems, to meet project requirements.
- Operate and maintain PLC‑controlled equipment on the factory floor, ensuring seamless integration with cold spray processes.
- Collaborate with customers to understand automation needs, provide technical expertise, and deliver exceptional customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
- Comfortable performing hands‑on work on the factory floor, configuring and testing PLC systems in a dynamic production environment.
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and R&D teams to integrate PLC systems with production processes and ensure manufacturability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues, performing root cause analysis to maintain production efficiency and uptime.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance automation processes and reduce waste.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including control system schematics, programming code, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), compliant with industry standards.
- Support the implementation and commissioning of new automation equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (OSHA, ISO 9001, AS9100, and company policies), prioritizing a safe working environment.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in PLC programming and control system engineering, preferably in defense or aerospace industries.
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and platforms (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
- Experience with HMI development and SCADA systems integration.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Safety‑conscious mindset with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additive manufacturing technologies, particularly cold spray or advanced materials processing.
- Familiarity with robotics, motion control systems, or industrial automation in aerospace or defense applications.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for industrial control systems.
- Experience with data acquisition systems or IoT integration in manufacturing environments.
Security Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship without dual citizenship is required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Why Join Titomic?
