Position Description

Summary:

Sets up and operates band saw to cut graphite to customer specifications, as well as support warehouse operations as needed. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of our premier clients on a direct-hire basis.

Reads job specifications, including blueprints, to determine machine adjustments and materials required.

• Sets up, adjusts, and operates saw room equipment, including band saws, and electric pallet stacker.
• Loads and unloads graphite material;
  Weights vary according to jobs.
• Verifies material against job traveler by sight and measurement.
• Utilizes hand tools and measuring devices to ensure accurate work.
• Verifies dimensions of finished workpiece using measuring devices.
• Meets fast-paced productivity goals and quality standards.
• Inspects warehouse and manufacturing equipment to ensure they are functioning properly and in good condition.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor.
• Checks email to ensure effective intra and inter-department communication.
• Participates in team meetings.
• Provides other warehouse area support including special assignments, as needed.
• Maintains a clean, well-organized work environment as it applies to the job or to the general work area.
• Maintains a safe work environment and operates within OSHA/MIOSHA guidelines.
  
  Education and Experience:
  
  High School diploma or GED. One to two years of experience working with a band saw is preferred.

  Certifications:
  
  Valid Driver's License/Chauffer's License
  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to operate a band saw correctly and safely.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
  • Basic math proficiency, including conversion of decimals to fractions.
  • Ability to take orders, meet targets, and work efficiently.
  • An independent self-starter; able to maintain production standards with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with the team.
  • A "can-do" attitude
  • Availability to work overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain attendance standards.
  Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Vehicles Used:
  Manual / Horizontal band saws, forklifts, RF guns, hand tools including gauges, tape measure, micrometers, and calipers; computer station to the extent of the utilization of email communications, and production order processing

Hours of operation for the warehouse are 8am - 5pm, Monday thru Friday, with a one- hour lunch.
  
  There may be times you will be scheduled to start before 8am or work on Saturdays to meet the needs of the business.
  Reporting Relationships:
  Position reports to the Warehouse Operations Manager directly, and indirectly to the Saw Room Lead.

  Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $17.00 - $20.00
