Akkodis, Inc. is seeking a Director of Supply Chain for an onsite role with a growing industry leader in aerospace and defense near Detroit, MI. The Director of Supply Chain will drive strategy while remaining deeply engaged in day-to-day execution, anticipating issues, solving problems quickly, and ensuring materials, suppliers, and processes support mission‑critical program requirements.

Salary Range: $80-90 per hour; salary negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Director of Supply Chain

Job Responsibilities Include :
  • Strategic Leadership & Compliance
  • Develop and execute a scalable supply chain strategy aligned with corporate objectives and U.S. Government program requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, cybersecurity requirements (e.g., CMMC), and customer flow downs.
  • Lead supply chain risk management, including supplier vetting, export controls, obsolescence planning, and mitigation of single‑source or geopolitical risks.
  • Hands‑On Supply Chain Execution
  • Oversee end‑to‑end supply chain operations: demand planning, procurement, subcontracts, inventory management, warehouse operations, kitting, production scheduling, and logistics.
  • Step in directly when needed—negotiating critical supplier agreements, resolving material shortages, or unblocking operational challenges.
  • Build and maintain a reliable supplier base capable of supporting rapid development cycles, engineering changes, and production ramp‑ups.
  • Supplier Development & Strategic Sourcing
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard suppliers across diverse commodities and emerging technologies.
  • Lead negotiations, contract execution, and supplier performance management with a focus on quality, delivery, cost, and cybersecurity posture.
  • Implement supplier scorecards, KPIs, and dashboards to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Consolidate spend and leverage category strategies to optimize total cost of ownership.
  • Drive rapid problem‑solving to keep programs on schedule—adapting plans quickly and escalating issues early.
  • Implement efficient, scalable processes that improve performance without adding unnecessary complexity.
  • Partner with engineering and program management to support new product introductions, configuration changes, and fast‑moving development cycles.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to uphold rigorous quality standards, supplier audits, and corrective action processes.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, quality, finance, and program leadership to ensure seamless material flow and production readiness.
  • Communicate clearly and decisively across the organization, especially when priorities shift or urgent action is required.
  • Support proposal development, cost estimating, and pricing for new business pursuits.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high‑performing supply chain team capable of supporting complex defense programs.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Model leadership behaviors that emphasize adaptability, initiative, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; defense, aerospace, or maritime strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments with shifting priorities and evolving requirements.
  • Proven experience with FAR/DFARS, ITAR, government contracting, and complex contractual instruments.
  • Hands‑on experience leading procurement, subcontracts, materials management, and logistics.
  • Strong understanding of zero‑based costing, TCO, category management, and supplier negotiations.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Net Suite, Infor, or similar) and S2C/SRM tools (Ariba, Coupa, SAP SRM).
  • Professional certifications preferred: CPSM, CPSD, CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, CIPS.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills.
  • PMI certification is a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident).
