Lab Technician

Location: Madison Heights, MI

Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8-5

Type: Contract

• BS Engineering, Chemistry, or related Degree
• Prefer 5 years lab experience
• Prefer to have surface treatment knowledge and experience
• Must have good mechanical aptitude and the ability to write accurate, comprehensive engineering reports
• Working knowledge of computer software for word processing, graphics, and spreadsheets

• Review and understand complex customer requests and projects.
• Provide sound technical design and technology advice to customers, field sales representatives, and other personnel.
• Travel 5-10% to support specific projects and applications.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely progress.
• Build chemical baths, process panels, apply paint, and operate analytical equipment like SEM.
• Conduct quality control checks on chemical baths, electro-coats, and other materials.
• Move pails filled with chemicals up to approximately 55 lbs.
• Expand knowledge of the Sales System (SAP ACE) and collaborate with representatives on sales projects.
• Prepare monthly reports on sales projects, activities, and issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, including equipment maintenance and proper chemical labeling and storage.
• Keep accurate records and reports of work performed and technical information.
• Purchase laboratory equipment and supplies, including special materials for projects.
