The Maintenance Electrician is a key member of the Calbee America Madera Maintenance team and works closely with Production and Engineering to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems throughout the facility, supporting continuous production and minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Installation & Programming:
- Install, configure, and support complex electrical systems, including high- and low-voltage circuits and equipment.
- Program and support VFDs, motors, control panels, and power distribution systems.
- Assist with electrical upgrades, equipment installations, and continuous improvement projects.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic issues involving motors, switches, control panels, circuit breakers, instrumentation, and other plant equipment.
- Troubleshoot integrated electro-mechanical systems to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities to reduce downtime.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes, company policies, and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of electrical systems, schematics, and modifications.
- Record all work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with GMP, safety, and plant standards.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong competency with high-voltage systems up to 480V, power distribution, and industrial electrical systems.
- Experience with VFD programming and industrial networking protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting, including the ability to read ladder logic.
- Experience with Automation Direct Do-more and Allen-Bradley systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams.
- Excellent written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and varying conditions.
- Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
