Fabricator, Manufacturing ​/ Production

Position Summary

The Maintenance Fabricator is a key member of the Calbee America Madera Maintenance team and works closely with Production and Engineering to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role is responsible for designing, fabricating, repairing, and modifying metal components and custom solutions that support production equipment, facility infrastructure, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
• Cut, shape, assemble, and finish metal and plastic components using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
• Perform TIG welding (primary), with additional MIG and stick welding as required.
• Work extensively with stainless steel, including fabrication, modification, and repair.

• Fabricate custom parts, guards, frames, platforms, and equipment modifications to support maintenance and production needs.
• Repair, modify, or reinforce existing metal or plastic components to improve safety, reliability, and performance.
• Inspect and measure completed work to ensure accuracy, quality standards, and proper fit.

• Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure project requirements and timelines are met.
• Provide problem‑solving support for equipment issues and plant improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with GMP, safety, and plant standards.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical or vocational training in metal fabrication, welding, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, machining, or a related industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of metalworking processes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
• Proven experience with TIG welding; working knowledge of MIG and stick welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
• High attention to detail and precision in measuring, cutting, assembling, and inspecting components.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent written communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, work at heights, and operate in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and varying conditions.
• Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
