Position: MAINTENANCE TECH

River Vista Behavioral Health sits along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River, this brand new, 128‑bed facility will provide high‑quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and hardworking Part‑Time / Maintenance Technician to be part of our Plant Operations Team. The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, test and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties with minimal supervision.

Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    High school graduate or equivalent preferred; two years of technical or trade school preferred.
  • Experience
    :
    Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment, ensuring proper safety precautions. Also at least 3 years of experience in building maintenance, basic mechanical engineering, painting/wall repair, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing.
  • Licensure
    :
    Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Additional Requirements
    :
    Must have complete knowledge of the physical plant within two weeks of hire.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, HVAC, and tests and inspections of the physical plant (including cleaning/changing air filters, disposing of infectious/contaminated waste, maintaining facility grounds, etc.).
  • Perform various janitorial duties.
  • Keep tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location.
  • Take necessary safety precautions when handling hand/power tools and equipment.
  • Ensure proper lock out and tag out procedures when working on equipment.
  • Comply with infection control, OSHA regulations, and Safety/Risk Management Plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in assuring a safe and risk‑preventive environment.
  • Use time constructively and in an organized manner.
  • Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel, and standard policies and procedures.
  • Attend mandatory facility in‑services and staff development activities as scheduled.
  • Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Support facility‑wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of general building maintenance, basic mechanical engineering, hand/power tools and equipment, risk and safety precautions applicable to all codes and OSHA regulations, and code procedures.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems and situations, communicate effectively with patients and co‑workers, and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use good judgement, work as a team player, demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication, and accept direction while adapting to various patient age groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, meet corporate deadlines, react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Physical, Mental, and Special Demands
  • Work a 40‑hour work week.
  • Move continuously; operate machinery and equipment safely.
  • Stand, walk, run, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, push, pull, twist.
  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds (may be required without assistance); exert up to 80 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Work under any weather conditions inside or out.
  • Require visual acuity for accurate reading of documents; hearing ability with or without correction; good hand and finger dexterity.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle; read and write; respond to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Additional Requirements

A strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, HCFA, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards, and all other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
