Job Summary

River Vista Behavioral Health sits along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River. This brand new, 128-bed facility will provide high-quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and hardworking Part-Time Maintenance Technician to be part of our Plant Operations Team. The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, testing and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties with minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform all tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, HVAC and tests and inspections of the physical plant.

Perform various janitorial duties.

Responsible for keeping tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location.

Responsible for taking necessary safety precautions when handling hand/power tools and equipment.

Take appropriate precautions ensuring proper lock out and tag out procedures are done when working on equipment.

Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations, and Safety/Risk Management Plans, policies and procedures.

Assist in assuring a safe and risk preventive environment.

Use time constructively and in an organized manner.

Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.

Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.

Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.

Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.

Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.

Qualifications

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent preferred; two years of technical or trade school preferred.
Experience:

Must have at least 3 years of experience in operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment, ensuring proper safety precautions. In addition, must have at least 3 years of experience in the area of building maintenance, basic mechanical engineering, painting/wall repair, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing.
Licensure:
Must have a valid driver's license.
Additional Requirements:

Must have complete knowledge of the physical plant within two weeks of hire.

Knowledge of risk and safety precautions applicable to all codes and OSHA regulations standards.

Physical, Mental, and Special Demands

Ability to work a 40 hour work week.

Ability to move continuously is required in the completion of job requirements.

Ability to sit, walk, stand, run, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, push, pull, and twist.

Lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds may be required without assistance.

Ability to work under any weather conditions inside or out without regard for temperatures any time of the day or night.

Visual acuity is needed for accurate reading of documents.

Ability to hear sound with or without correction.

Good hand and finger dexterity for the use of tools and equipment.

Ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Ability to exert up to 80 pounds of force to move objects.

Ability to read and write.

Ability to respond to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.

Additional Requirements

A strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, HCFA, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards and all other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
