Job Summary:
This position is accountable for counseling and case management of prenatal, medical genetic and metabolic genetic patients. Serves as a liaison between the patient, primary care provider, community agencies and the department, eliciting and providing medical and genetic information in collaboration with the Geneticist and provide psychosocial support. Works with Hospital leadership to ensure operational effectiveness and market development. Travel is required to satellite clinics.
Qualifications:
Education
- Masters Degree Genetic Counseling (required)
Licenses and Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
- ABGC - Board Certified Status - ABGC - American Board Genetic Counselors (required) Or
- Other - Other Active Candidate Status as designated by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (required)
Work Experience
- Minimum one (1) year Applicable medical genetics setting and/or area of focus (i.e. lab or neurology) (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Bilingual Skills Preferred.
