Responsibilities
River Vista Behavioral Health sits along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River, this brand new, 128-bed facility, will provide high-quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration.
We are currently seeking a forward thinking and compassionate Intake/Admissions RN to be part of our Intake Department. The Admissions R.N. is responsible for coordination of all admissions processes and serves as liaison to referral sources, families, payors, physicians, and hospital personnel involved with each admission. The Admissions RN is responsible for processing of inquiry and referral calls and responds to request for hospital and program information, assessment, and possible admission.
Responsibilities also include verifying insurance, triaging patients, completing assessments, entering calls and admissions in computer and completing all admission paperwork with patient. The Admissions R.N. is responsible for effectively communicating with patients, physicians, staff, referral sources and managed care organizations to obtain precertification.

QualificationsEducation: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required;
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Preferred Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of a behavioral health-care facility.
Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the California State Board of Nursing.
Additional Requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training. CPI Training may be obtained during new hire orientation.
Job Requirements: Excellent communication skills, i.e., verbal and written. Ability to prioritize; work well under periods of high stress and pressure. Ability to multi‑task and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrates an understanding of funding entities. Thorough knowledge of psychiatric services provided by the hospital. Ability to work flexible hours. Requires a basic understanding of computers; and accurate data entry skills. Knowledge of insurance contracts and payors.
Knowledge of precertification for inpatient hospitalization. Experience gathering and documenting medical and clinical information to assess and staff appropriately with physician. Ability to triage for medical and psychiatric needs. Working knowledge of DSM‑V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field. Excellent customer service skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, visitors, families and referral sources.
