river vista behavioral health sits along the bluffs overlooking the san joaquin river, this brand new, 128-bed facility, will provide high-quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the central valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration.

we are currently seeking a forward thinking and talented rn, house supervisor to be part of our leadership team. The house supervisor (rn) is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital's philosophy, objectives, educational and performance improvement efforts, while providing supervision to the nursing staff.

The house supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of the nursing staff, patients, and patient care during their shift. The house supervisor will work closely with the intake and admissions department regarding patient admissions, discharges, and transfers during their shift.

qualifications

education: graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required or equivalent combination of education and experience in psychiatric nursing management; bachelor's degree required.

experience: a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.

licensure: currently licensed to practice by the california state board of nursing.

additional requirements: thorough knowledge of the joint commission, osha requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. Cpr certification and successful completion of crisis prevention intervention (cpi) training. Cpi training may be obtained during new hire orientation.

  • ensure that all staff members deliver care in accordance with the standards of care and practice.
  • monitor that staff are implementing policies and procedures and act as a resource to the staff.
  • responsible for unit compliance with jcaho, hcfa, state and regulatory standards and patient rights standards.
  • evaluate program effectiveness and help formulate plans for
  • assist in developing staffing schedules in accordance with patient acuity and staffing grid.
  • coordinate the process for determining and maintaining accurate legal processes for patients.
  • ensure infection control, safety and risk management policies are being followed by staff.
  • coordinate and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment planning offered by nursing
  • process unusual occurrence reports, conduct investigations and corrective plans when needed.
  • participate in peer review committee and performance improvement activities.
  • monitor medical records for appropriate documentation of care and
  • collaborate with therapists, physicians, charge nurses to ensure patients receive quality care.
  • collaborate with the care center on admissions, discharges, and transfers.

personnel management

  • assist with recruitment and interviewing potential staff.
  • assist in ensuring all program staff is evaluated according to personnel
  • assist in providing supervision and direction in accordance with nursing department's goals and objectives to all nursing staff and conducts disciplinary actions where indicated.
  • continually evaluate the activities, morale and interpersonal relationships of the program staff and promote methods to improve these areas.
  • assist in ensuring that all new employees are oriented to the program.
  • assist in providing education, orientation and in-services for staff when deficits in clinical knowledge are identified.

treatment planning

  • monitor nurses for development and implementation of the nursing care plans.
  • verifies the patient's care through direct observation and consistent review of the chart.

teaching

  • provide education to patients and families when needed.
  • answer patient and families questions about the hospital and treatment.
  • monitor that staff are providing appropriate teaching to patients.

milieu

  • monitor that staff are adequately orienting patients to the unit.
  • monitor that staff are engaging patient’s participation in activities.
  • consistently utilize universal precautions and environmental safety
  • utilize self as a role model to promote health communication.

intervention

  • employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving, and crisis intervention with patients and families.
  • transcribe physician orders accurately if orders are received.
  • use appropriate interventions in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • respond to all codes and assist staff as needed.
  • review all paperwork and ensure that physician response to a psychiatric emergency is timely.

assessment

  • complete a comprehensive nursing assessment, patient interview and medication reconciliation when needed in the care center.
