General Laborer at Metro Power

The General Laborer supports various projects by assisting with the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. This role is responsible for measuring, cutting, and installing wire and conduit, performing basic electrical repairs, and disassembling defective equipment as needed. The General Laborer also safely operates hand and power tools, provides assistance with lifting and positioning materials, and ensures a clean, safe, and productive work environment.

• Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit
• Drill holes and pull/push wiring through openings as required for installation
• Help lift, position, and fasten wiring, conduit, motors, and related materials

• Perform basic repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, switches, and bulbs
• Disassemble defective electrical equipment to support troubleshooting and repair work

• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks
• Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition

• Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task
• Observe and communicate hazards and safety concerns to others
• Uphold safety as the most important goal and support a zero–accident target
• Promote open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed
• Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
• No experience necessary

• Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non‑negotiable
• Ability to focus and learn from superiors while being self‑motivated to accomplish tasks
• Must be able to follow specific directions
• Must perform a variety of duties which may often change
• Must work within standards of accuracy
• Must be able to repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure
• Must be able to evaluate information using measurable standards

• Frequent time spent in warehouse and shop, exposing employee to noise and moving machinery
• Lift at least 50 pounds
• Constant moving on your feet
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
