American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Tele experience and cardiac monitoring skills.
Details- Works on a 30-bed cardiac step-down unit (5 Heart) in a 637-licensed-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital
- Patient population includes pre/post cardiac and step-down ICU patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6; 2–3 CNAs available per shift
- Performs tracheostomy care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and titrating cardiac drips (BP titration not required)
- Skills required include IV insertion and management, central line care, wound care, post-op monitoring, telemetry interpretation, and discharge planning

Philips - 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation: 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to all in-house Med/Surg Telemetry units
- Central Telemetry Unit provides telemetry monitoring support
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR/EKG rhythm interpretation) required
- ACLS preferred but not required
- Medical-Surgical nursing certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Level 1 Trauma and/or academic teaching hospital experience required
- Strong cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation skills required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Orientation consists of 1 day of general facility orientation plus educational modules, followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- CNAs assist with vital signs, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulation, turning, hourly rounding, and patient transport; a dedicated hospital transport team is also available
- Unit secretary on unit 7a–11p; house-wide call secretary available 11p–7a
- Charge nurse, resource team, discharge nurses, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist all available 24/7
- PICC team available; nurses draw from central venous lines; most units use lab-collect phlebotomy
- Holiday coverage: travelers are expected to work 75% of major holidays (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, 12/31 or 1/1)
- RTO requests require manager approval
- Scrub color for RNs is navy
- A clinical interview with the unit manager is required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
