American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and strong telemetry skills.
Details- 20-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a 637-licensed-bed Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Patient population includes stroke and brain injury patients, post-op surgical patients, and those with acute or chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM; night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) may also apply
- Weekend rotation of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule cycle
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to all adult Med/Surg and Telemetry units within the facility
- EMR:
Epic (experience required) - Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Glucommander, PCA pain management systems, bladder scanners, and portable vital signs monitors
- Active RN license — GA state or Compact license required
- Current BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma or academic teaching hospital setting preferred
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin drips, heparin drips, Glucommander, and titrating drips to heart rate
- Skills in IV insertion, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, and telemetry interpretation required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Responsibilities include clinical assessment, cardiac monitoring, care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, discharge planning, and patient education focused on renal and fluid management
- Unit support includes CNAs, a unit secretary (on-unit 7:00 AM–11:00 PM, house-wide after hours), charge nurses, a PICC team, respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalists (24/7), intensivists (24/7), and a Central Telemetry Unit for monitoring
- Orientation consists of 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules, followed by 2 days of department-specific orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of major holidays, covering one shift each of:
Thanksgiving Day or the day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1 - RTO requests require manager approval
- Navy scrubs required for RNs

- Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies; the same rate applies for local travelers
- Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible
